There is a unique blackcurrant flavour to this coffee, the result of loamy soil and cool temperatures.   You may also taste hints of peach and apricot.  This is a well balanced cup with a pleasant aftertaste.

The beans come from the Ibonia Estate, located about 20 km northwest of Nairobi.  Production methods are focused on cultural and biological practices with a focus on organic matter management, soil conservation, bio-control of insects, pest and integrated weed management and an ecological fertilization program.  The Ibonia estate has many ecological practices in place to preserve indigenous flora and fauna.  Their tree-planting program resulted in hundreds of cypress seedlings being planted on the farm 2 years ago, and continues today with ongoing planting of diverse trees.  They have instigated controlled fishing near the farm’s dam and dedicated a park on the estate to birds and small wildlife.

Coffee is grown at 1700 meters above sea level on a cool, medium to high rainfall zone.  The beans are wet-processed with clean borehole water.

Rainforest Alliance Certified.  4C, Café Practices and UTZ certified.  Medium Roast
